Petlas is a Turkish tyre manufacturing company, founded in 1976. The company has ISO 9001 Quality System Assurance and AQAP-110 Industrial Quality Assurance Certificates. It manufactures tyres for:

• Agricultural
• Commercial
• Military tyres

Military market was its initial market focus in the first two decades of operation. However, since the mid-2000s, the company is also producing a wide range of tyres for passenger cars, 4x4 and trucks.

A radial tractor tyre is designed as a two-part construction allowing the sidewall of the tyre to flex independently of the face or tread area of the tyre.

A bias tractor tyre is designed with a single ply wrapped diagonally from one side of the tire to the other. This means that as the tyre flexes, the face or tread of the tyre deforms leading to faster and more uneven wear. In addition, the overlapped plies form a thick layer that is less flexible and more sensitive to overheating.

Under load the bias tyre flexes more compared to the radial tyre. Due to the flexing, the rolling circumference for bias tractor tyre is different from that of similar size radial tyre. If conversion is done from radial to bias on a 4x4 tractor the coupling, shaft or differential might be affected
